I began flying in August 2008.  I always wanted to learn to fly and always thought about flying.  Back in the mid 80's I purchased a Quicksilver MXII ultralight that needed a few repairs.  I made the repairs a tried to find someone to teach me to fly it locally.  I knew a couple of people that flew them but they wouldn't teach me.  So, I ended up selling it.  I also love to ride motorcycles and been riding since 1985.  Then one day my father showed me an article in the newspaper of a person (Kurt pFister of FlightJunkies.com) flying a powered paraglider and having in fly in.  I went to the fly in and loved what I saw.  The first thing that caught my attention was the portability of this units.  After talking to several people at the fly in, I was hooked!  The compact storage of these units was great.  The fact that currently you don't need a license to fly them is a big bonus!  And the fact that I can set up by my self and I don't need anyone to help me is good also.  Like I said I ride motorcycles (Harley) and I thought to my self that I can tow this behind my bike would be a great way to get to the field.

Since learning in 2008, I have logged more than 600 flights and most of them lasted about 2 to 2-1/2 hours each.  Flying to me is FREEDOM in 3D (the Harley is FREEDOM also but in 2D).  Just to fly is something special, to be in the air looking at things from a different view point.  Flying to places near and far is an adventure in it's self.  See people waving up at you and waving back at them hoping that you sparked someone else into looking into the sport is a great felling.  Then when you land, someone may come up to you just to see what the heck that flying machine is, explaining to them how it works and seeing their eyes light up like they would like to try it one day.

I hope that someone seeing me fly and coming up to talk to me get more people into this great sport!
